does anybody know the best wat to teach a sit, stay and guard command..

my labs are well trained, they will sit and stay for short periods, but i want them to know how to guard for when i leave them at home etc.. i knew a gs once who would sit and guard anything on command.. but how do you start to show the dog what it is you want ?

You will not be able to train a Labrador to "guard" only because they are not intended to be aggressive dogs. You can teach your dog to alert you if a stranger comes to the house, and most Labs will, with a bark. But if your Lab is aggressive to anyone/anything then he needs more exercise and discipline since the Labradors are supposed to be good by nature Very Happy

I would agree, labs are really not good guard dogs, they are soppy, loving bundles of joy Very Happy
