My 8 month old Lab Weston started vomiting about 9 days ago. I took him to the vet on the second day and nothing showed up on the x-ray. He gave him fluids and prescribed Reglan. He seemed to regain his appetite after a couple of days (not back to normal, but he would at least eat selective foods and move around a little bit). After a couple of days where he seemed to be on the way to recovery, he is now back to vomiting and not moving around much at all. My question is, does anyone know ...

Has anyone noticed in their black or yellow labs if they're dispositions are funny? I've noticed my black lab is calm and mellow where my yellow is sensitive. It's not just my 2 either, I've seen black and yellows who have these traits. Do you think it's the lines? Or just a coincidence with me encountering numerous dogs with the same traits relating to color of the breed and not the actual dog its self.

Anyway, my name's Alex, I'm a girl XP. I love animals a lot, especially dogs. I'm an aspiring vet.

I used to have two dogs, Pumpkin and Woody. They were father and daughter, Woody being Pumpkin's daddy . Woody died about two years ago at 15, and Pumpkin died November of '07 at age 11, so it was just a few months ago.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just ...

How many dogs does it take to change a light bulb?

Border Collie: Just one. And then I'll replace any wiring that's not up to code.

Golden Retriever: The sun is shining, the day is young, we've got our whole lives ahead of us, and you're inside worrying about a stupid burned-out light bulb?

Dachshund: You know I can't reach that stupid lamp!

Toy Poodle: I'll just blow in the Border collie's ear and he'll do it. By the time he finishes rewiring the house, my nails will be dry.

Rottweiler: ...

HOW DOGS AND MEN ARE THE SAME

Both take up too much space on the bed.

Both have irrational fears about vacuum cleaning.

Both mark their territory.

Neither tells you what's bothering them.

The smaller ones tend to be more nervous.

Neither does any dishes.

Both fart shamelessly.

Neither of them notice when you get your hair cut.

Both like dominance games.

Both are suspicious of the postman.

Neither understands what you see in cats.

Looking after a dog is a huge responsibility. In a lot of ways it is more demanding than looking after a person as a dog is 100% dependant on us to provide them with everyday essentials. A dog does not ask for a great deal in life. Essentially a dog can survive if we provide them with shelter, food and water. But this can not be considered as looking after a dog or any other animal for that matter. By bringing a dog in to our homes we are, in a sense, taking away the dogs liberty. Of course most ...

One of the very most fun ways for a dog owner to spend quality time with the dog is to take an agility course. These courses foster trust and closeness between dog and owner. Both human and animal benefit from tackling a challenge and accomplishing goals. Plus, taking an agility course is good exercise. Agility courses are not for puppies only. Any age dog can take and benefit from agility training as long as the following tips are kept in mind.

Puppy search

Make sure you see a puppy with its mother when you buy from a breeder or commercial premises - this will give you a good idea of background, health, eventual size and temperament. It should stay with its mother for at least eight weeks.

Try a local small breeder who could have healthy puppies bred in a home environment - your local council dog warden, vet or animal welfare officer may be able to help.

Don't buy from a large, unlicensed breeding establishment - ask ...
